New Seletar Flyover To Relieve Jalan Kayu Jam

The new Seletar Aerospace Flyover was opened on 16 May 2015. People in the neighbourhood, both residents and businesses, have been waiting in anticipation for this flyover as it is meant to relieve the congestion of the one-lane Jalan Kayu Road. Jalan Kayu is popular for its prata and diners are known to descend on this eatery and some other stalls during meal times, thus making the road traffic slow to a crawl.

Motorists are now able to have an additional and direct route to get them from Yio Chu Kang Road to the Tampines Expressway (TPE), Central Expressway (CYE) and Seletar Expressway (SLE); as well as to Seletar Aerospace Park and Seletar airport. This new flyover is a generous dual three-lane extension of Sengkang West Road.

Foodie haven Jalan Kayu has been identified in the URA Draft Master Plan 2013 as an ‘identity node” whereby places deemed to have strong character and distinct identity will be improved upon to preserve the image. Pavements and access to the nearby Thanggam LRT will be upgraded and more green spaces will be added.
