Medical Hub: Health City Novena

Singapore is aiming to be a medical tourist country and what better than to start with the planning of Singapore’s largest healthcare complex in Novena area. This mega medical hub incorporates 10 buildings and targets to be completed by 2030. The masterplan was unveiled on 30 Aug 2013. The medical hub will include Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). The entire hub is to be known as the Health City Novena. TTSH, all public and volunteer healthcare facilities and the medical school will be integrated in this 17-hectare large modern healthcare complex. Health City Novena will offer an entire spectrum of holistic care for residents in the central region of Singapore. It will even extend beyond healthcare to cover even commercial, public and leisure spaces, health services, and research and education.

The masterplan also includes the development of a care hub known as the Integrated Intermediate Care Hub (IICH). This will consist of Dover Hospice and a planned 2nd community hospital; both to be situated beside and integrated with Ren Ci Hospital and TTSH for least fuss coordination and care.

In addition, to enable patients’ transition back to the community, more resources will go to intermediate and ambulatory care which includes rehabilitation, palliative care and sub-acute care.

On top of these, the National Centre for Infectious Diseases will also become a training and research ground to further enhance skills in this area of expertise.

In the plans is also the proposed expansion of National Skin Centre. It will house day and outpatient clinics, there will also be laboratories, a pharmacy, a research wing, training facilities and patient education rooms.

Educational Institutions:

A great plus point to note is that renowned educational institutions located within 1km to 26 Newton are ACS (Junior), ACS (Barker) and St Joseph Institution (Junior). This proves to be a sure winner for families with school-going kids.
