Phase 2A1 and 2A2 To Combine Into Phase 2A:

From next year, the two phases 2A1 and 2A2 will also be placed together. In Phase 2A1, children with parents who were alumni of a school or who were members of the school’s management or advisory committees can enrol. Children who have siblings that have studied there or who have parents that have attended or are employed at the school should apply to Phase 2A2. Under this phase, MOE Kindergartners that are under the schools’ jurisdiction may also register.

Phase 2C:

On the other hand, Phase 2C is designed for children who are the closest to the school but who do not have any ties to it, such as a parent who is an alumnus.

The MOE announced in March 2021 it would review Primary 1 registration guidelines to make it easier for children to secure a place close to home under Phase 2C.

Almost one-third of schools have been balloted for Singaporeans living within 1 km of their schools in Phase 2C, up from one-fourth seven years ago.

Accordingly, 32 of the 64 primary schools which balloted within this Phase 2C category are expected to benefit from the latest change. Therefore, with the reserved seats doubling from twenty to forty, more students living within 1km of the schools will have higher chances of getting into a school of their choice.
